How Do You Predict Your Child’s Future Height?

What is the future height of your kid, people may think it is impossible to predict the height of the kid. But it is a little surprising for you that it is not impossible to predict the future height of the kids. The height of the kids depends upon the genetic makeup or the genes they are receiving from their parents.

Methods For Height Prediction

The methods used to predict the height of the kids are the Mid Parental Child Height Method and the Khamis Roche Method. The online height calculator uses these two methods to predict the future height of the kids. But you need to understand how both methods predict the future height of the kids.

Methods for kids’ height are:

  • Mid Parental Child Height Method
  • Khamis Roche Method

There is variation in the two methods as the Mid Parental Child Height Method only depends upon heredity. On the other hand, the Khamis Roche Method also includes child weight and heredity of parents’ height.  A certain variation is expected when you are predicting the future height of the kids.

Mid Parental Child Height Method:

The Mid Parental Child Height Method predicts the future height of the kids by the following estimation.

Mid Parental Child Height Estimation = [(Mother’s Height + Father’s Height)]/2

The child height estimation is equal to the mother and father’s height and then divided by 2.

The Girl’s Future Height  =  Mid-Parental Height – 2½ inches or 6.5 cm

When we find the girl’s height then it is mid-parent height minus the 2 and half inches or 6.5 cm in height.

The Boy’s Future Height = Mid-Parental Height + 2½ inches or 6.5 cm

When we are finding the boy’s height then it is mid-parent height plus the 2 and half inches or 6.5 cm in height to avoid.

Khamis Roche Method:

The Khamis Roche Method includes the child’s weight plus the parent’s height and divides it by 2. You can expect more accurate results from the Khamis Roche Method as it is more accurate as it includes more variables.

The Khamis Roche Height Method = [Child Weight + (Mother Height + Father Height)]/2

In the Khamis Roche Method, the margin of error for boys’ and girls’ height is given below:

The Margin of Error Expected in Boy’s Height = 2.5 inches

The Margin of Error Expected in Girls’s Height = 1.7 inches

The Margin of Error Expected in a Boy’s Height is larger than a girl’s height as boys are expected to gain more height than girls in the age of puberty.

The height predictor makes it possible to predict the future height of the kids, but you need to enter the accurate heights of the parents. The other thing when you are using the Khamis Roche Method, try to enter the precise height and the current height of the kid

You can predict the future height of the kid by using online tools and it is fun to know the future height. But you need to understand that all the predictions are estimates and errors can happen.
